[3D Printing News] Is the next-generation design exhibition super eye-catching? Online exhibition with no restrictions!

This year's Golden Pin Design Award saw nearly 5,000 entries from design schools across Taiwan compete for the prize. The Department of Industrial Design at National Taipei University of Technology had 15 entries shortlisted for 20 awards, with its main visual even being nominated for the Grand Vision Award! Check out the many winning works, commemorative merchandise, and 3D printed gifts!

Online exhibitions, on the contrary, are not limited by time, space or number of visitors.

The "Next Generation Design Exhibition" is the world's largest student-led design exhibition. Due to the pandemic, the Taiwan exhibition area has been moved online this year. Come and experience a different kind of design experience! Take home a 3D printed gift.
A new life for discarded oyster shells: "Today's Oyster Tide" – a seaside bench designed using discarded oyster shells.

Discarded oyster shells have been transformed into tiered benches for the beach! The designer uses different proportions of oyster powder to represent the cascading tides, incorporating the lines and traces of ocean waves into the seat design. By utilizing recycled materials, the benches are transformed into outdoor public seating, allowing visitors to watch the waves, listen to the sea, and touch everything that comes from nature. This also helps people better understand the diverse aspects of oysters, making the creative concept highly noteworthy! This concept of sustainability and recycling is very similar to the idea of reusing vacuum forming molds!
The specially designed drone " Life-line " can penetrate deep into fire zones to lay cables for rescue operations.

Fires are merciless! Especially in Taiwan, where indoor spaces are often cramped and have many corners, it's extremely disadvantageous in a fire where every second counts. The designers hope to use high-temperature resistant drones made of fiberglass to carry hoses into the fire zone to lay cables. This would allow them to overcome obstacles like narrow alleys or break windows, and combined with thermal imaging, quickly locate and extinguish the fire, helping to reduce casualties and losses for the public – a truly remarkable achievement!
WHEEHAB intelligent upper limb rehabilitation aids combine assistive power and error detection functions to optimize rehabilitation effectiveness.

Rehabilitation after a stroke is crucial. The designers aimed to reduce the burden on caregivers. WHEEHAB not only provides training for different body parts, but also automatically provides auxiliary power to help patients complete rehabilitation when they are too weak to continue. It eliminates the need to rely on others, making rehabilitation easier and more effortless!

What's this mysterious accessory? It's a practical and exquisite 3D printed bottle opener!

In addition to the aforementioned outstanding works, there are also exquisite peripherals created by emerging designers. This year, 3DMark has partnered with the Department of Industrial Design at Taipei University of Technology, using the high-precision industrial-grade 3D printer Ultimaker S5 . Ultimaker PLA filament is used for printing, which is less prone to warping and provides excellent surface texture. It can also be used with Cura slicing software ( click here: Cura software latest 5.0 beta, automatic line width conversion, 20% reduction in printing time ) to showcase the best finished product quality, resulting in a 3D printed bottle opener.
