Mario Kart Circuit created in just 3 days? 3D printed rainbow track, a Nintendo gaming benchmark, the best playmate from childhood to adulthood, independent dual-nozzle technology, ultra-fine puzzle joints, free download link at the end!
Super Mario Kart, released by Nintendo in 1985, is one of the most iconic games. With the advancement of technology, Mario has appeared on everything from the Famicom, Xbox, computers, and Wii to the currently popular Switch. The variety of games is countless, but the most popular one is undoubtedly "Mario Kart"!
2020 marked the 35th anniversary of the Mario Brothers' founding. To pay tribute to the Mario Brothers, Antonio Aranzana, a 3D printing engineer from Spain, used 3D printing technology to create a large-scale Mario racetrack – the Mario Rainbow Road.
The main rainbow track consists of 4,434 3D printed tiles. The large track is 5 x 5.4m in size and is made of PLA thread in the seven primary colors of the rainbow. It also has fine joint holes on the sides, center and corners to connect with other tiles.
To create this massive project, Antonio deployed all the 3D printers in his team, and specially selected the BCN3D Sigma D25 3D printer with its independent dual printhead technology (IDEX) ( click here for technical details ). The "copy mode" was the biggest contributor to this Mario project! 48 track pieces were 3D printed in three hours, and a total of 1,440 rainbow pieces were completed in one day. The entire rainbow track was completed in just 3 days!

The BCN3D 3D printer 's dual printheads can simultaneously 3D print two objects, offering both copy and mirror modes, doubling productivity. The dual printheads can also operate independently, allowing for the use of only one printhead during the process, effectively preventing filament from the other printhead from contaminating the finished product.
