PolyLite™ LW-PLA Series - 1.75mm
— Available in eight colors: black, white, gray, bright red , bright green , bright yellow, bright orange, and wood grain.

PolyLite™ LW-PLA is a special type of foamed PLA designed to be printed with similar settings to regular PLA, but weighs only half as much.
What is the difference between active foaming and passive foaming?
PolyLite™ LW-PLA is not an active foaming filament, meaning it will not foam when extruded from the nozzle depending on the temperature. PolyLite™ LW-PLA is pre-foamed.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of active foaming and passive foaming?

Active foaming:
You will need to make numerous modifications to the print settings depending on the temperature and settings to compensate for the foaming and expansion of the material during printing.
You need to print at very high temperatures (~250°C) to achieve a lightweight effect, which can cause many defects on the print, such as streaking and spots.
At very high temperatures, active foaming can produce lighter prints than passive foaming, but the prints may suffer from severe stringing defects.

Passive foaming:
You don't need to change any settings on the regular PLA (just slightly increase the retraction), because the PolyLite™ LW-PLA provides a lightweight effect even when printing at extremely low temperatures (~190°C).
The lower the temperature, the higher the print quality.

Is the PolyLite™ LW-PLA suitable for remote-controlled airplanes?
Yes, PolyLite™ LW-PLA is designed for easy printing and durability.

What are the differences between PolyLite™ LW-PLA and PolyWood™?
There is no difference! The wood color on LW-PLA is actually the same product as PolyWood™.

How to reduce stringiness?
Both LW-PLA and PolyWood™ are materials that are easy to draw.
Here are some tips:

Printing temperature 190℃ (printing speed 50mm/s)
Maximum driving speed
0.5mm glide and 1mm wipe (depending on model)
Gliding and wiping are usually the most helpful methods.

Can spools work in AMS?
Yes! We've redesigned the edges of the spools so that all Polymaker products can now spin perfectly in AMS.
