Since 2003, Gourmet Cazorla has been producing meat products and meat sauces, with its factory in Linares, Jaén producing more than 150 different flavors of meat sauce.

Over the years, the company's output has continued to grow. Since 2022, the company has been exploring how to optimize its production line using 3D printing technology. Thanks to the Ultimaker 3D printer and SHINING 3D scanner , Gourmet Cazorla has not only improved efficiency but also successfully saved time and costs.

[Challenge] - Custom production of design spare parts

Since the company started as a small meat processing plant, it has always relied on third-party suppliers to produce spare parts. The delivery time is long, and the manpower and expenses involved are enormous. It also requires stopping the production line, which puts a lot of pressure on the employees every time the work is started.

Since recognizing the potential of 3D printing technology, which enables engineering departments to design new parts that improve processes, it has also provided them with the opportunity to create their own unique designs.

[Solution] - Reverse engineering design using an FDM hot melt stacking 3D printer and a 3D scanner.


This meat sauce manufacturer consulted Sicnova 's 3D printing experts for solutions needed for their production line. They purchased an Ultimaker S5 3D printer , venturing into the field of rapid prototyping manufacturing for the first time. They subsequently added a SHINING 3D EinScan SP scanner to digitize smaller, more complex parts for future flexible use.

The Ultimaker S5 3D printer can be equipped with the Ultimaker S5 Air Manager to protect your work environment from unseen risks.

The SHINING 3D EinScan SP scanner can be used for automatic scanning with a turntable or for manual scanning with a tripod.

Gourmet Cazorla explained their production needs to Sicnova .  Sicnova not only showcased the technology but also designed some pieces to begin testing spare parts on the production line . Since then, the meat processing plant has started using nylon to print specific parts and spare components on the production line. Occasionally, they also use PLA as a more cost-effective material.

[Results] The lid positioner saves 90% of the cost and allows for faster spare parts delivery.

Since adopting digital manufacturing technology, Gourmet Cazorla has been able to print its own cap retainers (clamps for securing caps to cans) and conveyor belt feed combs. In addition, they also print accessories and caps for their own machines.

Compared to the original cost of the parts, the 3D-printed lid positioner for the meat sauce jar saved 90%. Previously, they ordered these parts from the manufacturer for €1,000 each and had to wait 20 days for delivery. Now, they can produce the replacement in just three days. The company is already considering other 3D printing applications, such as railings and guides on production lines.

For Juan Alberto Marín and his team, 3D printing and scanning have become key technologies at Gourmet Cazorla. "Marín says, "The investment has quickly paid off because it saves time and money, and we will continue to use it in more projects."
