[3D Printing News] Snapmaker Artisan 3-in-1, evolved once again! 300-degree dual printheads and a 10W laser head arrive with a bang!
Snapmaker , a renowned 3-in-1 3D printer manufacturer, recently released its latest generation: the Snapmaker Artisan. The Snapmaker Artisan inherits all the features of its predecessor, with a metal body and the ability to easily switch between 3D printing , CNC engraving, and 10W laser engraving modules .
This time, the company has upgraded its 3D printing modules, increasing printhead temperature to 300°C and enabling dual-material extrusion! These two upgrades benefit many demanding manufacturers. It can also print volumes of 350 x 400 x 400mm, as well as 400 x 400mm CNC and 10W laser engraving . Easily surpassing the largest size of the Snapmaker 2.0. In this generation of Artisa, module switching is faster, replacing the old screw system with a lever-locking structure. Snapmaker states that switching between all three modules takes only 60 seconds.
This new module switching mechanism has indeed brought up some of the problems that Snapmaker had previously encountered. A large part of Snapmaker's marketing for its first device was the continuous release of add-ons to further enhance functionality and provide ongoing support for modules in subsequent systems. However, neither promise was fulfilled. Later, when the 10W laser module for Snapmaker 2.0 was released, Snapmaker announced that it would be compatible with the upcoming device.
Artisan's release came shortly after the Snapmaker 2.0 update, which included some hardware optimizations. This further complicated compatibility issues. Will Snapmaker provide a workaround for older mods to accommodate the new locking mechanism, or will older mods be compatible with the new system? We'll have to wait for more information from Snapmaker to find out.
The Artisan comes with a 10W laser engraving module , unlike the 1.6W laser module in the Snapmaker 2.0 , so if you opt for the newer generation, you probably won't miss out on the older module. In any case, that old promise might still sting.
In addition to a more powerful laser engraving module, the Snapmaker Artisan comes with a Snapmaker 2.0 plugin emergency stop button.
Other upgrades include a marketing promise of fast 3D printing at speeds ranging from 150-180 mm/s. Unlike most promises of fast 3D printing on new hardware, Snapmaker specifies dimensional accuracy of ±0.1 mm at such speeds. This is certainly impressive for a Cartesian XZ head combination like the Artisan.

However, Artisan's claimed printing speed has already successfully captured everyone's interest. Snapmaker is heavily promoting its new linear guide, touted as the "next-generation linear module." This component even dominates the discussion on Snapmaker Artisan's blog, suggesting that Artisan is going to delve into its functionality and development. Linear guides and rails are generally more stable than common linear rods and can improve accuracy at higher speeds, but it's worth noting that Snapmaker's claimed speed of 150-180mm/s is still quite high. We'll have to wait and see how Artisan achieves its target figures.
The Snapmaker Artisan is not yet available for purchase in Taiwan. We will continue to monitor the situation, so please stay tuned!
