[3D Printing News] A New Choice for High-Temperature Resistant PLA Cables! colorFabb PLA-HT Emerges!
colorFabb has launched high-temperature resistant PLA that requires no annealing or other post-processing. The colorFabb team tested the filament in an oven, demonstrating its ability to withstand 120°C. Those familiar with available high-temperature PLA types in 3D printing will know that many users require annealing of 3D printed parts to achieve the initially claimed temperature resistance. Annealing increases processing time (at least 60 minutes for large and intricate parts), incurs additional energy costs, and in some cases, can even cause part deformation during the crystallization process.

The colorFabb R&D team has been researching solutions to achieve high HDT immediately after printing without the need for annealing. Annealing is a heat treatment that alters the microstructure of a material, thereby changing its mechanical properties such as hardness and strength. The process involves heating the metal to a temperature above its recrystallization temperature and holding it at that temperature for a period of time, followed by slow cooling.

Product Features : Improved heat resistance - oven tested up to 120°C. Easy to print, similar to PLA.
High tensile strength – 3766 MPa.

Disadvantages : Its impact resistance is slightly worse than that of ordinary PLA.
Higher temperature resistance can lead to more warping.
