[3D Scanning] EINSTAR Vega Unboxing: A Multi-functional Integrated 3D Scanner for Professionals and Hobbyists
EINSTAR is a subsidiary of SHINING 3D and has been providing high-precision 3D scanning technology since 2004.
The company holds more than 300 patents and operates globally, with offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Their laboratories are precisely calibrated and certified, serving industries worldwide.
The EINSTAR Vega is an exciting and user-friendly all-in-one device that enables a wide range of new target groups to use 3D scanning.
Unboxing the EINSTAR Vega and First Impressions
The device comes in a simple box containing a power supply, stand, wristband, a small test dummy, and a bag containing the scanner and other accessories.
Inside this bag, you'll find the scanner itself, already housed in a practical protective case, a high-quality handheld tripod, a USB-C cable, a bag strap, and a calibration plate and stickers.
All the accessories gave the impression of high quality and surpassed the quality of ordinary accessories in similar products.
The scanner itself features a magnesium alloy titanium gray casing, giving it an impression of extremely high quality, and it is also very compact.
Despite its small size, it features a high-quality 6.4-inch 2K AMOLED display that allows for intuitive operation via an extremely sensitive touchscreen.

User experience
VEGA’s integrated system combines two 3D scanning technologies: infrared MEMS for long-range scanning and short-range scanning.
These two technologies can be used in two modes:
"High Definition Mode" is especially suitable for smaller objects where precise details need to be captured.
"Fast Mode" is designed for larger objects and can quickly capture geometry.
High-definition mode is suitable for small to medium-sized objects, while fast mode is suitable for larger objects.

The EINSTAR VEGA offers wireless scanning and an ergonomic design, weighing a mere 535 grams. Its ability to operate without a laptop or powerful computer is particularly useful.
This is thanks to the integrated 5000mAh battery, large display, wireless connectivity, and powerful processor, making the scanner ideal for mobile use.
This makes it easier to work in places where computers are hard to use or where it is impractical, such as workshops or outdoor work.
In our tests, the battery lasted approximately 1.5 hours. If needed, the integrated battery can be replenished using an external power source.
A powerful hardware suite, including a 6.4-inch AMOLED display and a 48MP camera, complements the built-in storage and processing capabilities. SHINING 3D Cloud supports data storage and collaboration.
The entire kit provides an intuitive user interface that allows users to quickly and easily switch between different modes and perform calibrations.
A calibration plate is included; it is recommended to calibrate the scanner regularly, especially after changes in lighting conditions or long-distance transport.
One-click editing mode allows you to edit and view scan results directly on your device.
The related software "StarVision" allows you to import scanned data into your PC. Tests show that the scans are extremely detailed, even capturing fine structures. The accuracy is within one-tenth of a millimeter.
The software also provides the ability to align multiple scans and generate meshes. It can export in common formats such as OBJ, STL, or PLY.
in conclusion
The EINSTAR Vega is a powerful mobile 3D scanner. Its all-in-one functionality makes it particularly attractive to users who need flexibility in their work, such as when capturing automotive parts on-site.
The combination of ease of use, good scan quality, and the ability to edit directly on the device makes Vega an interesting choice for many 3D scanning applications and a good complement to 3D printing.
Continuous scanning requires a steady hand because there is no disposable function. Nevertheless, the image acquisition is better than other scanners tested, so this is not considered a drawback.
Overall, Vega delivers an impressive user experience.
